Literary books for children have an educational purpose, and are therefore aimed at personal and social development. In Côte d'Ivoire and elsewhere in Africa, the resources they mobilise and transmit have, from the outset, been part of the debate between modernity and tradition or, better still, between exogenous and endogenous knowledge. It is part of the changes that colonisation brought to education and its transmission channels. Our aim is to show the extent to which endogenous and exogenous contributions to development resources are sometimes interwoven today, using the medium of children's books as a starting point, which in itself has been integrated into Ivorian culture at the same time as so-called modern culture. We begin by reviewing some of the theoretical underpinnings of the study of children's book illustrations and the parameters adopted by Ivorian languages for the classic terms of colour. We then carry out a specific study of colours in relation to the values conveyed in literary children's books, before analysing the dynamism of the relationship between endogenous and exogenous in literary children's books.

Le livre littéraire pour enfants a un projet éducatif et, par-là, vise le développement personnel et social. En Côte d’Ivoire et ailleurs en Afrique, les ressources qu’il mobilise et transmet s’inscrivent, dès ses débuts, dans le débat entre modernité et tradition, ou mieux entre savoirs exogènes et savoirs endogènes. Il fait partie de tout ce que la colonisation a impliqué comme changement dans l’éducation et dans ses canaux de transmission. Notre but est de montrer à quel point se mêlent parfois aujourd’hui apports endogènes et exogènes dans les ressources du développement, en prenant appui sur le média livre enfantin qui, en soi, a été intégré dans la culture ivoirienne, en même temps que la culture dite moderne. Dans un premier temps nous rappelons quelques fondements théoriques de l’étude des illustrations des livres pour enfants ainsi que les paramètres retenus par les langues ivoiriennes pour les termes classiques de couleurs. Nous menons ensuite une étude spécifique des couleurs en lien avec les valeurs véhiculées dans les livres littéraires pour enfants, avant d’analyser le dynamisme du rapport entre endogène et exogène dans le livre littéraire pour enfants.
