The prosodic domain of African French is complex because it is influenced both by French from France, with its post-lexical prosody, and by the various African languages in contact, with their lexical prosody. If there is one level of the language where hybridity is particularly noticeable, it is the prosodic level, which makes its study delicate but interesting from a heuristic point of view. Côte d'Ivoire French is one of the African languages where a tonal system is clearly identifiable. After reviewing a number of recent prosodic studies conducted on African French in comparison with French in France, and on Côte d'Ivoire French in particular, we will offer a partial description of the lexical and post-lexical prosody of this French.

Abstract
The prosodic domain of African French is complex because it is influenced both by French from France, with its post-lexical prosody, and by the various African languages in contact, with their lexical prosody. If there is one level of the language where hybridity is particularly noticeable, it is the prosodic level, which makes its study delicate but interesting from a heuristic point of view. Côte d'Ivoire French is one of the African languages where a tonal system is clearly identifiable. After reviewing a number of recent prosodic studies conducted on African French in comparison with French in France, and on Côte d'Ivoire French in particular, we will offer a partial description of the lexical and post-lexical prosody of this French.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
