The paper examines the growing involvement of Italian Regions in advancing renewable energy communities (RECs), with particular attention to the Lazio Region. Traditionally reserved regarding renewable power plants, Lazio Region has recently adopted strategic initiatives aimed at fostering RECs. These efforts underscore Lazio’s commitment to accelerating the energy transition by empowering communities to actively participate in sustainable energy practices.
