Tito, a significant figure in 20th-century history, the crucial actor in the birth of the second Yugoslavia, and the leading exponent of Yugoslav communism and the non-aligned movement, has been the subject of many studies. This book is a short biography of Tito and a brief history of communist Yugoslavia. Analysing documentary sources, Pavlović offers another insight into the person of Tito in one hundred pages. The manuscript is divided into three parts. The first discusses Tito as a revolutionary and his role in the Comintern and the Yugoslav Communist Party during the period of the first Yugoslavia (The Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, from 1929 the Kingdom of Yugoslavia). The second part reconstructs Tito’s positions just before the Second World War, his strategy during the conflict, and finally, his seizure of power in 1945. In the last part, Pavlović describes Tito’s domestic and foreign policy as the president of the second Yugoslavia.
