This article analyses the new amendment of Article 58a of the Statute of the European Court of Justice, which has extended to all the European agencies equipped with an independent Board of Appeal (BoA) the filtering mechanism for appeals against a judgment of the General Court concerning a decision of the BoA. After briefly discussing the strengths and the weaknesses of administrative review before the BoAs, the article reflects on the challenges that the generalization of the filtering mechanisms poses to the uniformity of the system of BoAs and to the overall quality of the protection of rights vis-à-vis European agencies.
