Beyond the mother-child dyad: An example of integrating co-parenting into psychological care for young children – Clinical work with young children (0–5 years) must consider their close relational environment, which is often limited to the mother-child relationship. Fathers or other adults responsible for the child’s upbringing, i.e., co-parents, are rarely included in clinical work, even though it is now recognized that co-parenting – how all the adults responsible for a child’s upbringing work together and support each other – is fundamental to the young child’s psychological development. This article presents an approach that integrates co-parenting into clinical work with young children and their families. The various integrative aspects of this approach will be discussed.

Abstract
Beyond the mother-child dyad: An example of integrating co-parenting into psychological care for young children – Clinical work with young children (0–5 years) must consider their close relational environment, which is often limited to the mother-child relationship. Fathers or other adults responsible for the child’s upbringing, i.e., co-parents, are rarely included in clinical work, even though it is now recognized that co-parenting – how all the adults responsible for a child’s upbringing work together and support each other – is fundamental to the young child’s psychological development. This article presents an approach that integrates co-parenting into clinical work with young children and their families. The various integrative aspects of this approach will be discussed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
