The mythical figure of Medusa has been interpreted over time as a figure of destructiveness, castration and/or forbidden eroticism. Through a reinterpretation of the myth and its rewritings by female authors, this article attempts to examine the powerful and erotic figurations of Medusa in contemporary women's poetry.
