The article offers a critical review of the periods of Tiberius’ otium (Rhodes, horti di Mecenate, praetorium speluncae, Capri), with a consideration of the archaeological and literary evidence. The contribution thus reaches new conclusions regarding various themes, such as on the permanence in the horti of Maecenas and on different aspects of the decoration of the Sperlonga cave, among which the chronology of the statue of Ganymede stands out. The contribution closes by reconsidering the nature of the stay on Capri: Tiberius is a prototype of a tyrant in Tacitus, for which he was attracted by the solitudo of the isle. But even there he remained a tormented soul.

Abstract
But even there he remained a tormented soul.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
