This paper is part of the current debate on the origin of Linear B script because aims to analyse the process of adaptation of the Linear A script to the phonetic features of Mycenaean Greek, by applying the “area rules” proposed by M.G. Bartoli in the field of linguistic geography. Although using linguistic theories, this work will not be addressed on the level of language, but on that of writing. Indeed, the primary goal is to investigate the process of formation and evolution of Mycenaean writing in terms of geography and chronology. Since Linear B origins from the adaptation of Linear A, an already existing writing, this paper also aims to examine the link between Linear A and Linear B in terms of palaeography of common signs. In this way it will also be possible to try to reconstruct a trend of diffusion of recipient script (LB) at the time of its birth from the donor script (LA).

Abstract
In this way it will also be possible to try to reconstruct a trend of diffusion of recipient script (LB) at the time of its birth from the donor script (LA).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
