La riscoperta della tradizione identitaria locale in area laziale: il recupero del palazzo comunale di Priverno (Latina)

The rediscovery of the identity of buildings used, since the Middle Ages, as places of administration of local power arouses particular interest in cases where these, in the post unification period, return to their original function. In this key, it is possible to read the restoration projects and subsequently the works that occurred for the refurbishment of the historic seats. The reading of this phenomenon is most clear in centres where the medieval town hall maintained, despite changes in use, a central position in the life of the community over the centuries. This is the case of Priverno’s municipal palace where the local administration decided to entrust the architect Gustavo Giovannoni (1873-1947) in the early 20th century with a restoration project that was never carried out.
