The relationship between art and earthquake is quite complex, especially in the Abruzzo area, which over time has been affected by many earthquakes, that had a significant influence on the artistic developments of the periods after the disastrous events, from the earthquake of L’Aquila of 1703, after which the main monuments of the city were rebuilt in Baroque style and which largely determined the forms and types of its current urban structure, to the two terrible earthquakes of the past hundred years, the Marsica earthquake of 1915 and the earthquake of L’Aquila of 2009.
