L’ospedale militare del Celio. Città, architettura e difesa

The contribution deals with the construction of the military hospital in Rome on the Caelian Hill, between the last quarter of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. As part of the initiatives carried on for the organization of the army of the Italian State and the proclamation of Rome as the capital, the issue was intertwining with architectural, health, medical, urban, and military research, playing a significant role in the structure of the new city. Starting from the first decade of the 20th century, close to the military hospital, a medical district was created, including institutes of various specializations and capacities, still a point of reference for the city.
