This paper aims to analyze the figures of the imperial slaves and freedmen defined as a veste, the servants in charge of the emperor’s wardrobe. Even though some famous scholars, such as Boulvert or Weaver, wrote extensive works on imperial household, there’s not a specific study on these officiales. Starting from the analysis of main epigraphic sources, the research will attempt to identify the social position that the a veste held at the emperor’s court.
