Abstract: Production changes the landscape, breaking through nature to make room for economic activities. This leaves the territory damaged and often separated from inhabited areas. In Guidonia Montecelio, the quarries near the towns of Villanova and Villalba and natural sites like the Acque Albule basin and the Aniene River cause various environmental problems and create a strong divide in the territory, leading to a lack of communication and sense of belonging. Quarries can offer opportunities to link artificial and natural landscapes and build new connections between challenging places and nearby communities. By examining the case studies and projects mentioned, this contribution aims to describe a unique area caught between the past and the future and to provide ideas for regenerating productive landscapes, which are part of cultural heritage and the history of places.
