The Roman stadium of Antonino Pio represents an interesting example of architectural palimpsest characterized by archaeological, historical and constructive values. This contribution, after a brief examination of its history and trasformations, aims to suggest a series of critical reflections to outline possible strategies of conservation and re-functionalization, in full respect of historical stratifications.
