Populonia, Golfo di Baratti: un progetto per il futuro

The purpose of this paper is to explain the complexity of Populonia’s territory (Piombino-LI), studying the area of the Gulf of Baratti from the point of view of Landscape Archeology and Public Archeology. The first section illustrates a GIS platform showing all the evidence present in the studied area; moreover, some anomalies and interpretative proposals can be found here graphically represented. In the second part, dedicated to the theme of Public Archeology, the main initiatives that have affected the Gulf are highlighted, making it a virtuous example of the synergy between protection, enhancement, and relationship with the public; on the other hand, the poor work over the past year has been criticized. The research ends with some proposals for possible uses of certain areas and some sustainable ideas for the revitalization of the Gulf of Baratti.
