Valona tra suolo e acqua. Riconnettere il tessuto urbano attraverso il progetto del waterfront

The continuous phenomenon of urbanization in contemporary cities, the increasing lack of economic and environmental resources, and the growing need to address societal demands raise the issue of devising new methods and tools to improve life in established urban fabrics. Strategies of reuse and repurposing, replacement and layering, recovery, redevelopment and enhancement, densification, and urban acupuncture are encompassed within an integrated vision of regeneration, contributing to the city’s evolution in a dynamic manner and at a pace that responds to the rapid changes of the urban environment. Focusing primarily on recovery and reuse strategies, this contribution aims to present the project experience in the city of Vlora, developed as part of the Master’s Thesis at Sapienza University of Rome, as a methodological approach to reuse and recovery strategies that under pin urban regeneration processes.
