This work aims to investigate the possibilities offered by fitting algorithms as a support for the interpretation and reading of Cultural Heritage. The study concerns different 2D and 3D geometric shapes and aims to share new approaches to the study of artefacts. the developed algorithms take into account the shape of the monuments and return their dimensional and position values, together with accurate error propagation. The method can use point clouds produced through different survey methodologies (laser scanner, differential GPS and even sampling points on graphic plans) and demonstrates how it is possible to conduct different types of in-depth analyzes exploiting both qualitative and quantitative aspects. From the convergence of one with the other it is possible to extrapolate new information and therefore new possible interpretations of the monument, especially concerning dimensions, the presence of a unit of length and the existence of a common workforce.

Abstract
From the convergence of one with the other it is possible to extrapolate new information and therefore new possible interpretations of the monument, especially concerning dimensions, the presence of a unit of length and the existence of a common workforce.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
