The volume, made of three parts, is the analysis of the archaeological and historical development, and of the importance of the centre of Tell Ahmar in the region of the Syrian Euphrates. Part One is dedicated to the origin of the first village of Tell Ahmar in the Chalcolithic period up to the end of the 2nd millennium BC. Part Two covers the period from 1200 to 856 BCE when the centre of Tell Ahmar entered the sphere of the dominion of the Assyrian empire under Shalmaneser III. Finally, Part Three is entirely devoted to the analysis of the role and development of Tell Ahmar during the Assyrian period up to the final abandonment following the fall of the Assyrians in 612 BCE by the hand of the Medes and Babylonians.
