Together with other painters as Enrico Salfi, Michele Tedesco and Camillo Miola, Francesco Netti represents one of declinations of the neo-pompeian genre. It is widespread in Neapolitan artistic environment starting with Domenico Morelli, in the second half of 19th century. Netti establishes a personal relationship with antiquity, that sometimes strongly emerges not without contradictions from the works of the seventies of Nineteenth century.
