The conference represents an interdisciplinary endeavour, the objective of which is to facilitate continued reflection on the issues raised during the inaugural event in 2014. The objective of the conference is to present a variety of perspectives on yoga, particularly in relation to its manifestation within specific cultural contexts. The conference addresses the following issues, which collectively define its main thematic axis: 1. Yoga in the context of historical and cultural tradition 2. Yoga as a subject of interest in Western culture 3. Yoga as an element of the process of orientalisation of the West 4. Yoga in Poland: schools, centres and traditions 5. Polish scientific research on various aspects of yoga 6. Yoga in the common sense – ideas and misunderstandings The conference has both an intellectual and a practical dimension. The conference programme includes a lecture series and an exhibition of publications on yoga at the CINiBA academic library, as well as a workshop series held at the Academy of Physical Education hall. The organisers invited yoga practitioners and researchers from various academic centres in Poland and abroad to participate in the discussion, which provided a valuable opportunity to exchange thoughts on the current situation of yoga in Poland and worldwide.
