This paper intends to analyze a topic of cultural heritage conservation, tackled since the 1950s and still highly topical today: in situ conservation of detached assets. Nowadays, the detachment of a mural painting from its original support is an extrema ratio1, but more and more often it is necessary to intervene on older restorations due to the deterioration of the assets and their respective artificial supports. In fact, detached wall paintings preserved at the original site, where the microclimate is unstable, show obvious phenomenologies of degradation. For the latter’s condition, the plan of the conservation intervention cannot disregard the multidisciplinary approach, and the doctoral research aims to contribute to the definition a technical and operational methodology capable of giving effective conservation proposals to ensure the transmission of the cultural values of this category of assets intimately linked to architecture.

Abstract
This paper intends to analyze a topic of cultural heritage conservation, tackled since the 1950s and still highly topical today: in situ conservation of detached assets. Nowadays, the detachment of a mural painting from its original support is an extrema ratio1, but more and more often it is necessary to intervene on older restorations due to the deterioration of the assets and their respective artificial supports. In fact, detached wall paintings preserved at the original site, where the microclimate is unstable, show obvious phenomenologies of degradation. For the latter’s condition, the plan of the conservation intervention cannot disregard the multidisciplinary approach, and the doctoral research aims to contribute to the definition a technical and operational methodology capable of giving effective conservation proposals to ensure the transmission of the cultural values of this category of assets intimately linked to architecture.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
