The research addresses the relationship between ancient settlement systems and the shape of the territory, determined by geographical, topographical and morphological features. More specifically, the thesis aims to investigate how archaeological sites, understood as strongly identifying elements of the landscape, have influenced the structure of the Apulian territory, and how knowledge, protection, conservation and valorisation can be fostered, proposing renewed strategies, methods and techniques that through critical making can build theory, focusing on the notions of norm and protection constraint, so as to be able to give concrete answers to the intervention actions according to an innovative methodological approach. The methodology adopted is based on a lecture of Apulia's archaeological heritage through a 'territorial lens' that makes it possible to understand not only the singularity of each site but also its insertion in a complex and articulated territorial context.

Abstract
The research addresses the relationship between ancient settlement systems and the shape of the territory, determined by geographical, topographical and morphological features. More specifically, the thesis aims to investigate how archaeological sites, understood as strongly identifying elements of the landscape, have influenced the structure of the Apulian territory, and how knowledge, protection, conservation and valorisation can be fostered, proposing renewed strategies, methods and techniques that through critical making can build theory, focusing on the notions of norm and protection constraint, so as to be able to give concrete answers to the intervention actions according to an innovative methodological approach. The methodology adopted is based on a lecture of Apulia's archaeological heritage through a 'territorial lens' that makes it possible to understand not only the singularity of each site but also its insertion in a complex and articulated territorial context.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
