The author reflects on the different scenarios opened up by the war in Ukraine, starting with the two most improbable: a return to the pre-war international order, hegemonised by a single world power, and a return to the old East/West bipolarity. Then there are four other possibilities: the creation of a new form of opposition between East and West, no longer based on ideology; the settling of a new multi- polar equilibrium; permanent chaos, harbinger of endless horrors; and the nuclear apocalypse. The author advocates the search for a new multipolar balance, which would require, in order to be realised, the replacement of the ‘right to war’ with a ‘right to peace’. In other words, it would mean taking seriously the principles affir- med in our Constitution and the UN Charter, which establish the illegitimacy of all wars, allowing only legitimate defense, which must never become war. And they also place limits on the exercise of the right of resistance, which can never turn into revenge and aggression against the territory of others, not even that of the invader.

Abstract
And they also place limits on the exercise of the right of resistance, which can never turn into revenge and aggression against the territory of others, not even that of the invader.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
