Abstract
After the industrial take-off of post-war Italy, several industrial companies established themselves in Argentina, building admistrative headquarters and production plants with a clear identity. Among these stand out Olivetti, Fiat, Pirelli and Necchi. So far these Works have not been studied together, perhaps because they respond to different themes and programs, but they marked a momento of strong influence for italian architecture in South America. On the other hand, this ‘landing’ of italian industries- favored by the development policies prevalent in Argentina starting from the beginning of the 1960s -was accompanied by extensive advertising of Italian design products present in most of the periodical publications intended to the growing local middle class. This phenomenon contributed to a renewal of graphic, industrial and architectural aesthetics which found wide acceptance, both by the general public and by specialized critics.
