La storia contemporanea oggi. Bilancio di una discussione

The article presents a critical review of the “Interviews on Contemporary History” published by Mondo Contemporaneo between 2017 and 2021. Carried out with the goal of assessing the state of contemporary history in the 21st century, this series of interviews has focused on a set of relevant questions: the prevailing trends in studies on the contemporary age over the last twenty years, the relation between contemporary history and human and social sciences in the recent past, the role of the historian in society and in the public debate today. In addressing the evolution of this field of study in the past two decades, the interviews also explored present-day challenges for historians of the contemporary age as well as possible paths to explore in the future.
