Gianluca Mori’s latest book, Guy Patin et le Theophrastus redivivus (2022), shows that the approach to the question of the origins of modernity should be based less on the Scientific Revolution and instead start with the end of the Renaissance, focusing on ethico-politico-religious issues. In this respect, the Theophrastus represents an important juncture between the past and the future, a meditative meeting point in which a new vision of the world emerges.
