The relationship between John the Baptist and the Qumran community has often been proposed since the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls and has recently been revived by new studies. This article, focusing on the quotations of Isa 40:3 in the Gospels and within the Qumran manuscripts corpus, tries to highlight how such a relationship between these two religious phenomena is difficult to prove.
