La tomba 210 in contrada San Vito a Guardia Perticara (PZ): una sepoltura di alto rango dalla Siritide enotria della prima metà del V sec. a. C.

Tomb 210 at Contrada San Vito, Guardia Perticara (PZ), is remarkable for the abundance and variety of its grave goods. Very little has been written so far about it. Nevertheless, this find helps us investigate the cultural-ritual beliefs and well-being levels of an Oenotrian community in the first decades of the 5th century BC. Therefore, this paper aims to interpret the grave goods of tomb 210 as indicators of gender, status and social roles attributed to the individual. I argue that this context can be safely dated to around 480-470 BC and belonged to an Oenotrian upper-class adult female familiar with Greek customs. Data from this study could be usefully integrated with those from the hinterland, late archaic Metapontion and Siris so that future research could give a complete picture of this geographical area at this time.
