The fragments of Juba II’s Λιβυκά allow us to reconstruct the identity link between the monarch and his kingdom, between geographical manipulation (e.g. the course of the Nile, the shape of the African continent) and explorations (Canary and Purple Islands, Atlas). This paper aims to demonstrate the political use of the African space by Juba in the construction of a storytelling willing to consolidate the king’s own power and to connect the territory to the ancient histories of the new Mauritanian dynasty, creating an ideal connection between Mauretania and Egypt through the course of the Nile (a symbol of the union with Cleopatra Selene) and using Punic literature
