The following paper aims to illustrate a recognition of the fragments of the Λιβυκά by king Juba II of Mauretania, proposes a classification of the fragments themselves and tries reconstructing the “images of Africa” deducible from them. It will therefore be possible to detect the presence of multiple facets that allow us to reconstruct, albeit partially, the idea that Juba had of his continent and at the same time to reveal his intention to promote it and make it equal, in terms of dignity, to the northern shore of the Mediterranean. Through the fragments analysed (geographical, zoological and mythological), we also intend to demonstrate that such a prolific author as Juba cannot be classified as a mere compiler, but that he is able to balance his book knowledge with autopsy.

Abstract
The following paper aims to illustrate a recognition of the fragments of the Λιβυκά by king Juba II of Mauretania, proposes a classification of the fragments themselves and tries reconstructing the “images of Africa” deducible from them. It will therefore be possible to detect the presence of multiple facets that allow us to reconstruct, albeit partially, the idea that Juba had of his continent and at the same time to reveal his intention to promote it and make it equal, in terms of dignity, to the northern shore of the Mediterranean. Through the fragments analysed (geographical, zoological and mythological), we also intend to demonstrate that such a prolific author as Juba cannot be classified as a mere compiler, but that he is able to balance his book knowledge with autopsy.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
