A polarimetric model to observe metallic targets at sea in polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data is proposed. The model gives an understanding of the different symmetry properties that characterize sea surface with and without metallic targets in terms of the correlation between like- and crosspolarized channels. Experiments undertaken over C-band Single Look Complex (SLC) RADARSAT-2 SAR data confirm the soundness of the approach.

Abstract
A polarimetric model to observe metallic targets at sea in polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data is proposed. The model gives an understanding of the different symmetry properties that characterize sea surface with and without metallic targets in terms of the correlation between like- and crosspolarized channels. Experiments undertaken over C-band Single Look Complex (SLC) RADARSAT-2 SAR data confirm the soundness of the approach.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
