The analysis of Euripides’ influence on Sophocles’ Electra has often been limited to highlighting the links between the two homonymous tragedies, generally leading to a rather unfruitful discussion on the chronology of the two Electras. This work attempts to overcome this stalemate and aims to compare the initial section of the Sophoclean drama (vv. 1-250) with the entire Euripidean production, highlighting potential symptomatic elements of a dramaturgical dialogue between the two great tragedians.
