This paper aims to investigate the existing relationship between the papal communities and the ecclesiastical government during the first years of the Restoration period, considering the activity of one of the most important consultants of that time: Pietro Bracci (1779-1836). As chief architect of the Good Government Congregation since 1794, and later sub-inspector engineer member of the Art Council (post 1818), this official oversaw many different public construction sites, providing technical reports concerning both local facilities and national infrastructures.
