The recent conclusion of the restoration concerning the seventeenth century façade of the Scalzi church in Venice has brought about significant conceptual and methodological change in its conservation strategy. That facade has been subject, for more than a century, of continuous repairs, mostly for an emergency nature, made imperative for security reasons. However, after the last intervention, the current intention is to obviate the recourse to similar measures through its continuous and planned supervision. The present paper – the result of a series of studies conducted during the Ph.D. internship at the ABAP Superintendency of Venice and the Lagoon – availing of the documentation produced during the restoration project, recently completed, aims to expose its outcomes and future developments, which could outline a first step toward the formulation of a more articulated programmed conservation plan.

Abstract
The recent conclusion of the restoration concerning the seventeenth century façade of the Scalzi church in Venice has brought about significant conceptual and methodological change in its conservation strategy. That facade has been subject, for more than a century, of continuous repairs, mostly for an emergency nature, made imperative for security reasons. However, after the last intervention, the current intention is to obviate the recourse to similar measures through its continuous and planned supervision. The present paper – the result of a series of studies conducted during the Ph.D. internship at the ABAP Superintendency of Venice and the Lagoon – availing of the documentation produced during the restoration project, recently completed, aims to expose its outcomes and future developments, which could outline a first step toward the formulation of a more articulated programmed conservation plan.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
