Among the unaccomplished works by Silvio Panciera, one is particularly relevant: a new handbook of Latin Epigraphy, with a very innovative concept. Aim of this paper is to present the idea that lies behind the chapter that was conceived to illustrate the sacred inscriptions: “Interacting with gods and damons”. Unfortunately, only a small part of this work has already been elaborated, and lots remains to be done in the future, probably not by a single scholar, but by a whole research team.
