This paper delves into the exploration of underground architectures, focusing in particular on the concept of "cavities" as human-excavated spaces within specific geological landscapes. Previously studied solely in speleological, geological, and archaeological realms, urban undergrounds are now emerging as hidden components of collective memory. The article highlights the shift from functional to typological analysis in understanding these structures, showcasing the innovative works of Nicoletti, Martí Arís, and Espuelas through nuanced analyses of their essays. It emphasizes the necessity of a multidisciplinary approach involving restoration, architectural composition, and historical contextualization for future research and conservation endeavors. The study aims to redefine the narratives surrounding underground heritage and highlight its potential within urban contexts.

Abstract
The study aims to redefine the narratives surrounding underground heritage and highlight its potential within urban contexts.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
