Cultural heritage in danger. Fragments of the Appia Antica from Sinuessa to Mondragone

Climate change is causing irreversible environmental damage to the world’s cultural heritage in addition to the disasters caused by ongoing war events, synonymous with death and destruction. Art cities, archaeological areas, monuments, and cultural landscapes are in danger of being severely damaged or disappearing along with our identity as inhabitants of the earth. It is necessary, therefore, to monitor the health of cultural Heritage to address the major future challenges aimed at protecting and preserving our planet. Aware that the recommendations and intervention strategies elaborated by Unesco and various national and International Observatories should be supported with an action of dissemination of knowledge of the state of affairs of the many cultural assets present in our territories, the contribution proposes to document some surviving traces of the Via Appia near the area of ancient Sinuessa, in the province of Caserta, which unfortunately are not valued as they should be even though they represent testimony to civilization and therefore the identity heritage of a place.
