In our scoping review of the available literature on MMF and adverse pregnancy outcomes, we confirmed that animal studies have shown that recommended clinical range doses of mycophenolate mofetil can lead to developmental toxicity, malformations, intrauterine death, and fetal growth restriction2–4 . Surveillance and data from the National Transplantation Pregnancy Registru (NTPR) have demonstrated an increased risk of spontaneous abortion and a specific pattern of malformations, including cardiac anomalies microtia or anotia, facial clefts, with exposure to mycophenolic acid during pregnancy. These findings highlight the importance of caution and rigorous monitoring when prescribing MMF to fertile women. The data suggest that while MMF can be effective to treat AIH, its teratogenic potential could be detrimental.

Abstract
The data suggest that while MMF can be effective to treat AIH, its teratogenic potential could be detrimental.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
