Penetrating laryngeal trauma is uncommon but related to potentially life-threatening complications and therefore represent a surgical challenge.[1,2] In fact, prompt and appropriate treatment is mandatory to increase the chances of survival and of a good functional recovery. On this matter, we present our management of a 63-year-old woman that arrived at our emergency department with a traumatic throat cutting from a stab injury. The patient presented a cut on her throat from one tip of the mastoid to the opposite, resulting in a complex laryngopharyngeal lesion with total laryngeal transection.

Abstract
Penetrating laryngeal trauma is uncommon but related to potentially life-threatening complications and therefore represent a surgical challenge.[1,2] In fact, prompt and appropriate treatment is mandatory to increase the chances of survival and of a good functional recovery. On this matter, we present our management of a 63-year-old woman that arrived at our emergency department with a traumatic throat cutting from a stab injury. The patient presented a cut on her throat from one tip of the mastoid to the opposite, resulting in a complex laryngopharyngeal lesion with total laryngeal transection.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
