Implenda est mundi facies. Nota esegetica a Manilio, Astronomica 1.805 – 808

At Astronomica 1.805 – 808 Manilius enumerates the planets with exceptional rapidity. The passage is not devoid of significant philological problems, first of all its position within the book. The article defends the transposition suggested by Jospeh Justus Scaliger and, before him, by the so-called Anonymus Maraninensis, who place the verses after v. 812, and attempts to demonstrate how it is consistent with the structure of the book. The contribution also provides a philological and literary analysis of the passage, with a focus on Greek models.
