The aim of this paper is to analyze the intercessio tribunicia against the activity of the praetor during the in iure phase of a private law trial (per legis actiones and per formulas). Based on the few literary sources, it is possible to reconsider some peculiarities of this type of intercessio, like the identification of the procedural acts against which the veto could be moved, the parties of the trial who could appeal a tribune, the effects and the reasons of the intercessio in a private law trial.
