Storia e storiografia sulla palude e la bonifica pontina in età contemporanea

The article analyses the historiographical debate that has occurred in recent decades on the Pontine region, starting with Roberta Biasillo’s recent volume Una storia ambientale delle paludi pontine. Terracina dall’unificazione alla bonifica integrale (1871-1928). Analyzing the interpretive junctures that have marked studies on marshes and reclamation allows for a detailed reconstruction of the influence they have had in the analysis of Pontine history. The recent focusing on the environment has raised new questions and opened a new phase outside the narrative related to the environmental impact of fascism, within which to re-analyse the contemporary events of the area.
