Virtual sports are a rapidly rising phenomenon. The International Olympic Committee is considering creating esports Olympics. This ecosystem attracts significant investment, and Nations are interested in making their legal systems attractive. The phenomenon of virtual sports assumes great relevance on an economic, social, and educational level. The prizes for winning some competitions are in the order of millions. In addition to the economic aspects, there are important social and educational implications. The analysis is divided into three main points: the origin of the phenomenon, the view taken by the IOC and the European Union, and the review of the legislation of France and San Marino. Subsequently, through the analysis of the legislation of France and San Marino, an attempt will be made to identify the best regulatory approach that might be best for Italy.
