Vulci has lost its distinct identity. The ancient "City of the Living," immortalized by the poet Giuseppe Ungaretti, largely remains undiscovered underground. Meanwhile, the "City of the Dead" has been looted, with its valuable artifacts now displayed in major museums around the world. Initiated in 2020, the Vulci Nel Mondo project seeks to rebuild this lost identity. It does so through a freely accessible multimedia database (www.vulcinelmondo.com), a virtual museum featuring the dispersed heritage, and by bringing together available resources. The project is also gearing up to meet the challenges and opportunities presented by the emerging Metaverse.

Abstract
Vulci has lost its distinct identity. The ancient "City of the Living," immortalized by the poet Giuseppe Ungaretti, largely remains undiscovered underground. Meanwhile, the "City of the Dead" has been looted, with its valuable artifacts now displayed in major museums around the world. Initiated in 2020, the Vulci Nel Mondo project seeks to rebuild this lost identity. It does so through a freely accessible multimedia database (www.vulcinelmondo.com), a virtual museum featuring the dispersed heritage, and by bringing together available resources. The project is also gearing up to meet the challenges and opportunities presented by the emerging Metaverse.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
