This article examines A. Traina’s method in studying Horace. The importance of Traina’s contribution to Horatian scholarship consisted also in his indicating new research possibilities, especially as regards the structural and, when required, numerical aspects of the Carmina. The significant case of carm. 4.11 is analyzed and new observations based on Traina’s insights are also proposed.
