Young students of the Sapienza Rocket Team at Sapienza University of Rome have performed multidisciplinary hands-on activities on model rocketry which have stimulated their interest and enthusiasm towards the space sector. A first project is aimed at building the foundation for a scientific demonstrator aimed at evaluating the aerodynamic characteristics of rocket parts based on computational fluid dynamics and rocket launches. A second project is instead devoted at developing a technology demonstrator based on small sounding rockets launches employing higher-power rocketry. The main results achieved by the students include a computational characterization of the aerodynamic coefficients of different rockets and successfully reaching 996 m of altitude with a rocket launch.

Abstract
Young students of the Sapienza Rocket Team at Sapienza University of Rome have performed multidisciplinary hands-on activities on model rocketry which have stimulated their interest and enthusiasm towards the space sector. A first project is aimed at building the foundation for a scientific demonstrator aimed at evaluating the aerodynamic characteristics of rocket parts based on computational fluid dynamics and rocket launches. A second project is instead devoted at developing a technology demonstrator based on small sounding rockets launches employing higher-power rocketry. The main results achieved by the students include a computational characterization of the aerodynamic coefficients of different rockets and successfully reaching 996 m of altitude with a rocket launch.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
