The paper aims to critically analyse the main results obtained so far in terms of management in a BIM environment of the information related to the process of knowledge and conservation of the architectural heritage (representation of constructive characters and phases, state of decay and crack pattern, planning of interventions, etc.). Particular attention is paid to evaluating the effectiveness of informative models as a support for ‘structural conservation’ projects, appraising the (currently poor) interoperability with computational models, as well as the possibility of inserting into the BIM model data regarding mechanical properties and other fundamental information to assess the structural behaviour of historic buildings. Having highlighted the limits, mainly linked to software shortcomings, and the frontiers for research, an interdisciplinary development path is suggested. Through the guided implementation of a commercial software, an enrichment of its informative and semantic apparatus is proposed, in order to make the model a kind of ‘guide’ that helps the survey and the understanding of the constructive features of architectural heritage.

Abstract
Through the guided implementation of a commercial software, an enrichment of its informative and semantic apparatus is proposed, in order to make the model a kind of ‘guide’ that helps the survey and the understanding of the constructive features of architectural heritage.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
