Narrate da Sud: migrazioni e sicurezza nei quotidiani tunisini

This study explores the relationship between migrations and its representations in the Southern Mediterranean. It aims to do so by studying two among the most important Tunisian newspapers. Usually underestimated and ignored by the Northern shore, it is important to understand how the local press approaches to the phenomenon in order to observe differences and similarities between the two contexts, often perceived as opposite. On the contrary, results demonstrate that, for many aspects, the attitudes shown by the two shores’ press are similar. On both sides, it tends to emphasize the security aspects and the menaces that migrations can pose to a country. The year taken into consideration for the study is 2016, which represented the climax in a process of important changes in the Mediterranean management of the migration flows.
