L'osservanza del digiuno e del riposo domenicale in Norvegia: eccezioni, resistenze, tolleranze (secoli XI-XIII)

The paper explores the laws regulating fasting and Sunday observance in 11th century-Norway, as well as their evolution over the following two centuries. Concerning the Sunday observance, in Norway we can observe a certain degree of tolerance, as showed by the large number of exceptions to this obligation. Moreover, the Norwegian laws concerning both precepts show influences from 10th and 11th Anglo-Saxon laws, with regard to the length of the feast days as well as the system of punishments. Then, in the second half of the 12th century, the intervention of the popes led to an update of the Norwegian laws, in order to conform them to the current Canon law.
